Methodology

Methodology

We offer top quality education, teachers, and curriculum. Our methodology is communicative and follows the Curriculum of Instituto Cervantes based on the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages. We are an accredited Cervantes School.  At our Spanish School in Panama, our pride is our people. Our professional, experienced, and caring staff is dedicated to helping EPA! students settle into their new Latin American surroundings, progress in their Spanish studies, and attain their educational and career goals.

Placement test

Before enrollment you will be asked to complete our online level test in order to determine your proficiency level in Spanish.
You will take an oral placement test either by skype or zoom once you are in Panama or prior to your arrival or your online lessons.

Class Size and Combined levels

While class size depends on the number of students enrolled at each level, all classes have a maximum limit. The maximum for group classes is 7. We keep these classes small because it is especially important that students have many opportunities to speak. In many cases our group lessons are average of 3 to 4 students.

Textbooks

We use in all the European common Frame structure of levels (A1 to C2) books from one of the best editorials for Spanish textbooks and workbook in the world. Our classes include structure/Speaking Practice and Reading/Writing classes. The content has been tailored exclusively for Spanish as second language learners from all levels, which by the way adjust to what the Instituto de Cervantes curriculum and methodology suggests.

Our Teachers

Every teacher at EPA! Has the following:

  • Proactive personality and culturally sensitive
  • Education in teaching or skills in teaching Spanish as a foreign language (ELE)
  • Experience using the communicative approach
  • Constant training from our schools to deliver high quality lessons
  • Native speakers

First day and Arrival

On your first day of school we always recommend being at least 30 minutes before your classes. As soon as you get to the school you will be welcome by our student counselor. We will give you a tour of the school and take you to your classroom. You will receive a welcome package that has some school and Panama information. Also, in that welcome package you will find basic information of your classes such as your teacher´s name, classroom number, class schedule and others.

At the end of your class if you need any other help in buying a public transportation card or a sim card for your cellphone, our student counselor will be more than happy to help you.

If you would like to know about the activities of the school or any other information regarding your stay in Panama you can ask our student counselor.
